Welcome
to Hook Lane Primary
Our motto is Encouraging Fearless Learners.
We achieve this through a broad, varied and engaging curriculum, delivered in an environment where children feel both safe and challenged. At Hook Lane, we build a culture rooted in kindness, respect and high expectations, where happy children and happy staff are able to thrive and achieve.
We are committed to ensuring that every child makes strong progress from their individual starting point. We recognise that all learners are different, and we support each child to develop confidence, resilience and a love of learning that will stay with them for life.
Our Values
Our Values
-
A true community school
Hook Lane is a school with deep roots in its local community. Many staff stay for years, creating continuity, care and a strong sense of belonging for children and families. This stability helps pupils feel known, supported and ready to explore, discover and achieve. Together with families, Hook Lane builds genuine partnerships that help every child grow as a fearless learner. -
Every background is celebrated
Hook Lane is proud to welcome families from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures and experiences. This diversity enriches school life and helps children learn the values of respect, inclusion and understanding. Pupils are encouraged to wonder, reflect and appreciate the world through different perspectives. Every child is valued for who they are and supported to become confident, curious and independent. -
Where community and care are more than words
At Hook Lane, community and care are lived every day. Strong local links, including visits to Riverdale Care Home and Little Wings Big Dreams Nursery, help children understand kindness, service and connection. These experiences encourage pupils to create, captivate and contribute positively to the world around them. Children learn that being fearless also means showing empathy, responsibility and care for others. -
Exceptional enrichment for every child
Hook Lane offers rich opportunities that help children learn beyond the classroom. Regular trips, outdoor learning, Forest School, OPAL play, and the reading bus help pupils build confidence, curiosity and independence. Through these experiences, children are encouraged to imagine, challenge themselves and persevere when trying something new. Every opportunity is designed to help pupils embrace learning with excitement and ambition. -
Encouraging Fearless Learners
Hook Lane combines high expectations with a caring, supportive ethos. Its “high challenge, low threat” approach helps children take risks, learn from mistakes and grow through every experience. Wellbeing is central to school life, supported by Bertie the school dog, inclusive lunches, enrichment clubs and the school’s Community Ambassador. With values such as resilience, fortitude, mastery and motivation, children are supported to thrive as ambitious lifelong learners.

Parent
I can not speak highly enough of Hook Lane Primary School! The staff are approachable, friendly, professional and hardworking. I feel that they genuinely care for every child in their care. I was particularly impressed at our most recent parents evening, the detailed feedback that we received was very thorough and I feel that we got a great overview of how our children are progressing at school. Thank you for all your hard work and for keeping us well informed. -
Pupil
The teachers push us to achieve our best. We can always ask if we get stuck. Learning here is very interactive because of the focus on Oracy. You get the support you need.
