What does Maritime Academy Trust do?

At Maritime, we believe education should be meaningful, enjoyable, and make a real difference to children’s lives.

Our goal is simple: to help every child love learning, feel confident, and be ready for whatever their future holds. We know the world is changing quickly, so we focus not just on what children learn, but also on the skills they need to adapt, grow and succeed.

  • Who we are

Maritime Academy Trust is an educational charity. This means everything we do is focused on improving education for children and young people.

We are led by a Board of Trustees and our Chief Executive, Nick Osborne. Like all academy trusts, we are funded by the government and are accountable to the Department for Education and Ofsted.

  • How we support your child’s school

Every school in Maritime is unique, but all of them benefit from being part of a wider, supportive network.

We work alongside your child’s school in three main ways:

    • Providing support so schools have what they need to succeed

    • Offering oversight to make sure everything is working as it should

    • Creating opportunities to help schools keep improving

We aim to take away as many pressures as possible from school leaders, so they can focus on what matters most: teaching and learning.

  • What all Maritime schools share

Although each school has its own identity, you can expect three key things in every Maritime school:

    • An engaging curriculum that builds both knowledge and important life skills

    • High expectations for behaviour, so children feel safe, supported and ready to learn

    • Strong collaboration, with schools working together and supporting each other

  • Working together to improve education

Being part of Maritime means schools don’t work in isolation. Staff regularly work together to share ideas and improve teaching, including:

    • Joint training programmes

    • Teacher and staff collaboration across schools

    • Network meetings and shared projects

This teamwork helps ensure your child benefits from the best ideas and expertise across all our schools.

  • The support behind every school

We provide a wide range of support to help schools run smoothly and continuously improve:

  • Educational support

Our education team works closely with schools to understand what is going well and where extra help is needed. We provide regular reviews and targeted support, as well as high-quality staff training.

  • Estates and safety

We make sure school buildings are safe, well-maintained and meet all health and safety requirements.

  • HR support

Our HR team helps schools recruit and support excellent staff, ensuring your child is taught by talented and dedicated professionals.

  • Financial support

We help schools manage their budgets carefully and get the best value for money, so more resources can be focused on children’s education.

And if a headteacher needs advice or support, there is always someone available to help.

  • Working with parents and carers

We know that strong partnerships with families make a big difference.

Being part of a Maritime school means your child benefits from:

    • A broad and balanced curriculum

    • Well-trained, supported staff

    • A school backed by a strong and experienced Trust

All of this allows school leaders to stay focused on providing the best possible education for your child, every day.
